Welcome to Year 1!
This term our question is, 'how do different environments compare?' We will be focusing on the Polar Regions and considering how this environment differs to our own.
Things to Remember
In Year 1 we are striving to become more independent. The children are responsible for handing in letters and any other belongings.
- P.E. days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child does not wear any jewellery to school on these days. Children wearing jewellery into school on P.E days, must be able to remove it themselves. Children will also need warm, navy tracksuit bottoms for the colder months, as we will still be going outside.
- Homework will be set every Friday. Homework will consist of a Maths and Literacy task (based on the topics we have covered in class that week). Homework books must be brought back by Tuesday in order for them to be 'quarantined' for 48 hours before being marked and then returned, ready for the next piece of homework to be sent home.
- Children will also be sent home reading books each week. Please ensure your child's reading record is signed, so that new books can be given. We change children's books once a week. It is imperative that children are reading daily in order to consolidate their understanding of phonics and to build their reading fluency.
- Please ensure all items of clothing and water bottles are clearly named.
